ACCC Commissioner and SA Court Appointments

The Australian Government has appointed Mick Keogh as Commissioner of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Furthermore, in South Australia, three other legal professionals have received various court appointments.

ACCC Commissioner

Mick Keogh has a long history of involvement with the agriculture sector. ACCC Chairman Rodd Sims says that Mr. Keogh’s experience in this sector will be invaluable to the ACCC when making decisions on agricultural matters which are of a high priority to the ACCC.

The recent establishment of the ACCC’s Agriculture Enforcement and Engagement Unit will allow Mr. Keogh to play a key role in the investigations and engagement in rural and regional areas. Mr. Keogh will assist the unit in identifying competition and fair trading issues in agriculture markets while at the same time engage with a range of industry groups.

South Australian Court Appointments

Peter McCusker has recently been appointed as a senior judge of the Industrial Relations Court and as President of the South Australian Employment Tribunal. Mr. McCusker has been a judge on the South Australian District Court since 1988 and a judge of the Industrial Relations Court of South Australia since 1990.

Further to this, Penny Eldridge has been appointed as a judge of the District Court of South Australia, while Martin Keith has also been appointed as an auxiliary master of the District Court for a period of 12 months.
