The Competition and Consumer Point-in-Time Service has been updated to include the Competition and Consumer (Industry Codes—Food and Grocery) Amendment (Infringement Notices) Regulations 2025 (Cth).

Competition and Consumer (Industry Codes—Food and Grocery) Amendment (Infringement Notices) Regulations 2025

The purpose of the Regulations is to ensure that the penalty amounts specified in infringement notices for alleged contraventions of penalty provisions in the Competition and Consumer (Industry Codes—Food and Grocery) Regulations 2024 (Cth) align with the policy intent.

This amendment reflects the strengthened penalty framework introduced by Schedule 4 to the Treasury Laws Amendment (Fairer for Families and Farmers and Other Measures) Act 2024 (Cth), which provides higher maximum amounts of penalties in infringement notices which may be applied for the purpose of industry codes relating to the food and grocery industry.

These amendments have been updated in the Point-in-Time Competition and Consumer Service current to 2 April 2025. (NB: Subscription required).
