Launch of French Australian Lawyers Society
Wednesday 27 February 2013 @ 4.19 p.m. | Legal Research
Last week, a new understanding was launched between French and Australia lawyers with the launch of the French Australian Lawyers Society in Sydney.
The society's patron, Justice Gleeson, stated at the launch that "the legal fraternity
in both countries can learn from each other’s systems of law.
There’s a high level of interest from both sides of the mix here in one another’s
systems and practices ... the time has long passed for mutual incomprehension between
civil law and common law.”
This will create new opportunities for Australian lawyers to begin recognising qualifications overseas in France and learning both civil and common law systems of practice.
