Wednesday 6 June 2012 @ 2.03 p.m. | Immigration
Victoria Legal Aid has launched a new legal kit to help migrants and refugees navigate Australian law.
Named ‘What’s the Law?,’ the kits are aimed at addressing common legal issues faced by new immigrants, from buying a car, to renting property, to signing contracts with utility companies.
The kits include a DVD with digital stories in simple English, activity sheets, and instructions for teachers. They will also include links to further sources of legal help or information. The kits will be used by English language teachers in the Adult Migrant English program.
‘What’s the Law?’ was launched on Friday 1 June, at the auditorium, Phoenix Youth Centre, 72 Buckley Street, Footscray. It is available for download at legalaid.vic.gov.au
