Queensland Stands Back from Bikie Laws

Queensland Premier, Campbell Newman unlike his New South Wales colleagues, has opted to hold back from reacting to alleged bikie shootings and turf wars and as reported in the press "has ruled out legislating against members of outlaw motorcycle gangs wearing their colours - for the time being".
Mr Newman is quoted by SMH as saying:
''This is Australia,'' .. . ''We don't go after people because of the clothes they wear, the tattoo they may have, the way their wear their hair."...''We go after the people who break the law, who are a threat to society.''
Such appears to be an opposite reaction to the ban imposed by NSW Premier, Barry O'Farrell, which sees restrictions on bikies running tattoo parlours as a key way to stop "tit-for-tat shootings" spreading through parts of Western Sydney.
It is reported by the press that lawyers representing Bikies are critical of such laws and predict a second High Court challenge that will cost NSW millions of dollars while wasting police and court time.
