South Australian Senator Nick Xenophon has made it clear that SA Senators need to think of their state when it comes to voting for the Murray-Darling Basin plan. It has been stated that for the interest of SA, getting the plan right is absolutely crucial.
Mr Xenophon reportedly told ABC Radio today that ‘This is a case where SA senators…need to vote for SA; this is do or die for us…’ He went on further to say ‘Some people don't understand how important this plan is. If we get this plan wrong, the consequences for South Australia will be enormous for generations to come.’
He further criticised the plan as being one determined to get blood from a stone. To add to his criticism, SA Premier Jay Weatherill said the plan was inadequate and did not factor in water savings already made by the state.
