Carbon Tax becomes Law

The Senate today has voted to pass the Carbon Tax Legislation by 36 votes to 32. 

Applauded by supporters nine Greens Senators voted with Labor to pass the package of 18 Bills (for details see our previous post at Clean Energy Legislative Package: Carbon Tax 2011).   Consistent with its position through the debate on the legislation the LNP Coalition voted against the Bills as did Independent Senator Nick Xenophon and DLP senator John Madigan.
