Monday 7 March 2011 @ 9.05 p.m. | Legal Research
A 15-year-old Melbourne student is suing the Victorian Education Department and the State Government for failing to teach him literacy and numeracy.
The lawyers for the student have told the Federal Court their client's future is seriously disadvantaged after he missed out on the requirements of an education.
The court heard the boy suffers from a number of disorders. His lawyers have told the court the State Government promises a "world class" education for individual students, but Stefan has been left severely bullied, illiterate and innumerate.
He is also suing the Government for future loss of earnings.
