Survey shows support for same-sex marriage

Recent call-in surveys by federal Labor ministers in their electorates have shown strong support for gay marriage, an article in the Australian claims. The cabinet is now under pressure to change the party's position ahead of its national conference.
Regional Development Minister Simon Crean says that with the exception of church groups, most of the feedback in his Melbourne electorate of Hotham is in favour of same-sex marriage. The government says the Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman, is appropriate.
