In a recent parliamentary sitting the NSW government has purposed a new Bill called the Liquor Amendment (Drinking Age) Bill 2010. This Bill purposes to change the legal drinking age from 18 to 21. An exerpt from the Bill's explanatory note:

"The object of this Bill is to amend the Liquor Act 2007 to raise the minimum drinking age from 18 years to 21 years. The Bill makes consequential amendments to provisions relating to adult supervision of minors, the sale or supply of liquor to minors and associated defences, and refusing entry to licensed premises."

All the recent P-plater deaths in Australia has prompted the government to do something about drink driving and as a result they have purposed this new Bill.

Do you think raising the legal drinking age will help lower death tolls on the road?
