The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) began legal proceedings in the Federal Court against Yellow Page Marketing BV and Yellow Publishing Limited last week.

Two overseas companies are due to face court accused of posing as Australia's Yellow Pages and duping customers.

They were branded with the words "Yellow Page" and contained an inverted walking fingers logo, much like that belonging to Sensis' Yellow Pages.

The companies, based in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The commission alleges the companies breached two sections of the Trade Practices Act by making false and misleading representations about their directory services.
