NSW Law Society will Lobby for Fairer Bail Act

The SMH has today reported that Lawyers will be campaigning against the perceived tough bail, sentencing and personal injury laws, in the upcoming NSW state election.
The Law Society wishes to Repeal s 22A of the Bail Act. The SMH quotes the president of the Law Society, Mary Macken as saying:
''The Bail Act is just too tough. The average time juveniles are spending on remand has gone up from 15 days to 30 days between 2008 and 2009.''
