UPDATE: Qld Couple in Abortion Case Not Guilty

TimeBase reported in a previous blog (Qld Government: Abortion rights in Criminal Code are fine) the young Qld couple who stood trial for allegedly importing abortion drugs from overseas to terminate a pregnancy.

The highly publicised case was today drawn to a close with the Cairns District Court ruling Simone Leach, 21, and her partner Sergie Brennan not guilty. 

The key issue for the Jury was Judge Bill Everson direction that they must be satisfied that the drugs were noxious to Ms Leach's health, rather than the foetus.
