Woolworths and Coles 'play foul'

A high-ranking executive of the U.S. retail giant Costco, has accused domestic heavyweights Woolworths and Coles of attempting to slow its expansion in Australia by fighting new developments at every opportunity.
Costco's chief financial officer and executive vice-president Richard Galanti has warned he will up the pressure on the duo, firing back from Costco's Washington State headquarters that Australia could sustain a ''huge'' ramp-up in stores with more than 10 Costco warehouses in a short period of time an achievable goal.
