The Customs Point-in-Time Service has been updated to include the Crown References Amendment Act 2024 (Cth) (Act No 115 of 2024) and the Customs Amendment (ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area Second Protocol Implementation and Other Measures) Act 2024  (Cth) (Act No 116 of 2024).

Act 115 of 2024

Following the accession of His Majesty King Charles III, the Act makes minor amendments to various Commonwealth Acts to:

  • update references to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to “the Sovereign”; and
  • provide flexibility to the application and operation of existing and future legislation, in the event of the accession of a new Sovereign.

Act 116 of 2024

The primary purpose of the Act is to amend the Customs Act 1901 (Cth) (the Customs Act) to give effect to the customs obligations under the Second Protocol to Amend the Agreement Establishing the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area.

The Act also amends the Customs Act to revise and streamline multiple provisions concerning the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations Plus and the Malaysia–Australia Free Trade Agreement.

These amendments have been updated in the Point-in-Time Customs Service current to 21 January 2025. (NB: subscription required).
