Employment Point-in-Time Service Updates

The Employment Point-in-Time Service has been updated to include the Paid Parental Leave Amendment (Adding Superannuation for a More Secure Retirement) Act 2024 (Cth) (Act No 90 of 2024).

Act 90 of 2024

The Act amends the Paid Parental Leave Act 2010 (Cth) to:

  • establish Paid Parental Leave Superannuation Contribution (PPLSC) entitlement as part of the Commonwealth-funded Paid Parental Leave Scheme;
  • provide for the calculation of the amount of the PPLSC and the manner in which the amount is paid;
  • create mechanisms for the Commissioner of Taxation (the Commissioner) to correct under- and over-payments of the PPLSC;
  • provide an avenue for recipients to seek review of PPLSC decisions made by the Commissioner; and
  • give the Commissioner new compliance and enforcement powers to assist with administration of the PPLSC.

The Act also makes a minor technical amendment to the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) relating to unpaid parental leave, to clarify that an employee may take 'keeping in touch' days during a period of continuous unpaid parental leave (UPL), irrespective of whether they have previously taken flexible UPL.

These amendments have been updated in the Point-in-Time Employment Service current to 10 October 2024 (Note: Subscription required).
