Criminal Wealth: Cth to reduce the incentive to commit crimes

Today the Commonwealth will initiate a new action nation-wide to try and and seize the wealth of powerful criminals within organised global criminal networks.
"Criminal wealth" legislation has become the new focus of law enforcement agencies around the world
and attempts to take the incentives out of committing crimes. Attorney-General Nicola
Roxon said: ''Organised crime is driven by dirty money - take away their money and
it reduces the incentive to commit crimes.''
The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Law Enforcement incited the legislative changes, due to the fact that previous criminal wealth legislation
generally had an ''uneven application of law enforcement efforts'' across the country.
The report highlighted to legislators that criminals relocate depending on which state
and territory has the most favourable laws.
